A reminder that next week the VSO is bringing the world of gaming to the Orpheum with an exciting presentation of PLAY! A Video Game Symphony on Monday, December 6th at 8pm. This concert features the Vancouver Bach Choir and one of game music's most distinguished figures, conductor Andy Brick. As a special treat for fans, composer Jeremy Soule (The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Guild Wars, Prey and Company of Heroes) will be in attendance along with Oleksa Lozowchuk (Dead Rising 2), Michael Curran and Geoff Knorr (Civilization 5). All will be signing items after the show as part of special meet and greet. In cooperation with 2K Games and Firaxis, there will be a drawing to give away 10 copies of Civilization 5, and a limited number of free Civilization 5 soundtracks will be available for those who attend the meet and greet.

PLAY! A Video Game Symphony enjoys wide recognition as the leading artistic presentation of symphonic game music. This exciting musical experience features award-winning music from a catalogue of blockbuster video game titles, including Halo, Sim City 4, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Harry Potter: the Chamber of Secrets, Sonic the Hedgehog, World of Warcraft, and more. Under the supervision of Video Director Anthony Pagano and Producer Jeron Moore, stunning graphics on large screens above the orchestra accompany the exciting scores, highlighting memorable moments from the video games themselves. The performance will feature two compositions by the Pacific Northwest’s own Jeremy Soule as well as the World Premiere of Civilization V.

In a rousing tribute concert that will make you think Ray Charles himself is on the Orpheum stage, the VSO presents Ellis Hall performing the Master’s greatest hits on Friday and Saturday, November 19th and 20th at 8pm. VSO Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik conducts this London Drugs VSO Pops concert. The set list for this extraordinary concert includes songs that Ray Charles made immortal, songs like Georgia on My Mind, Let the Good Times Roll, Hit the Road Jack, You Are My Sunshine, Hallelujah I Just Lover Her So, and many more hits.

Chop Shops new Digs.

The Chop Shop will be moving south on the street across from the Best Western Chateau Granville, beside neighbours Le Chateau and The Refinery.

Here's a sneak peak at the space, which will be twice as large as the former location, with a vintage diner-style color bar and pool table.The lovely burlesque beauties you've come to love will still grace the decor.

The new shop is expected to open in mid-december.
