For the man who appreciates the finer things...

If you have a man in your life who enjoys the finer things in life such as pure silk ties and cashmere sweaters, why not give it to him this christmas?

Dunn's has a beautiful selection of ties from $75 - $175. In general, I'm that girl who is super impressed with the sheer quantity of ties one finds at a mall department store, however, upon careful examination, even I can tell there is a big difference the design. Most of the time, I find ties to be better suited for the cotton tops (oldies) but Dunn's has a selection to also suit the young and hip. So fresh in fact, I'm tempted to pick one up to pair with one my dress shirts.

These cashmere classic crew neck sweaters were just a bit over $200. On sale, but sooooo painfully soft.

So lets pretend that this picture wasn't taken on an IPHONE by an amateur photographer... better yet lets pretend this is a dream scene where this heavenly Bugatti jacket came to you in a vision. It's $695, 100% Wool and oh so beautiful. Love it!

50% off at Buffalo Granville

Sale at Buffalo (670 Granville Street). As you can see 50% off all merchandise except for one rack of new arrivals and denims. Tons of jackets, shirts, and pants to choose from.

I happened to find these wooley fleece lined-mittens that were reduced from 14.99 to 9.99, then the 50% discount applied on top of that. $5 and super cute... not to mention soft and warm.

No idea how much this jewelry was, but I saw in the window and thought it was picture-worthy. Very cute rhinestone cross, and floral motif pendant.

Great Gift Idea - Sony Rolly

Sony Rolly, where have you been all my life?

I was walking around in the snow (weee!) yesterday and ducked into the Sony store for a bit of warmth. I came across this egg shaped MP3 player inside a glass display case.A bit chunky for my taste, but an interesting "Apple-esque" design...

And then it danced... Sweet lordy! Watch the videos to see what I mean.

The Sony Style Store at 929 Granville Street (The Tom Lee Music Building) has a limited number of these Sony Rolly Dancing MP3 players for approximately $399. You can choreograph your own dance routines (and share them with other friends with Rollys), store up to 520 songs...  Very clear sound. Details and specs available on the Sony website. Fantastic gift for your favourite audiophile/technophile.

Didyaknow? Urban Behavior Outlet

Yaletown Sofa, and Lorne Mayencourt are gone from the old Kripps Pharmacy building.

Urban Behavior has opened a new outlet store at 994 Granville Street. Great news is, all the best sales from all the other UB stores have been consolidated at this one location. Even better is that there's some fantastic finds in denim - One of them being $10 jeans. There's a variety of price points, and dozens of styles, but yes, folks, there's several styles of jeans for $10 freaking dollars. How is that even possible?

The store reminds me of Fields, but really, what bargain hunter cares when fashions are marked down 70%? Mens and Womens.

Anyways, check it out when you can... They'll be there for the next 6 months.

Bedo's Semi-Annual Sale

Just in time for those christmas parties, it's Bedo's semi-annual sale (776 Granville Street). In the picture above, is a darling little demi jacket which I tried on. It felt luxurious and delicious with a high cowl neckline.

Also, on the sale racks at the back I found this pretty silk dress discounted to $39.99. I'd probably make this place one of my first stops if I was looking for something a little edgier to make a splash at the holiday staff function.

Sales at Mantique...

For the bargain hunters, there's 5 racks of sale items at the back of the store. Among the items, a brown tweed Sakura Coat reduced from $229.95 to $159.95.

Dance for the World

I missed the Movember Event!

Collab. with guest Blogger Barbie.

A real phenomenon is taking over.  When the sun goes down, the moustaches come out.  We've seen them all, the Fu Manchu, the Dali, the Handlebar... wherever there is facial hair, there is possibility.

Thursday night, they were walking solo and in ‘stache-matched pairs. We searched for patterns and meaning to no avail. Why were these Magnum PI debonair men manifesting? Was it for a specific cause? There was no way of telling - the hairy-lipped souls were gravitating in circles, and standing in lineups at the Caprice Nightclub. Don't get me wrong, We welcome 'Mos (a term the aussies fondly coin for moustache) as a fashionable addition to the modern male.

Sleuthing skills discerned - Movember, a moustache growing charity that raises money for prostate cancer research has invaded Vancouver. The moustachioed brotherhood was seen mustering with their Mo Sistas for a fabulous dress-up party. 70's Porn stars and Hulk Hogan look-a-likes battled it out on the catwalk for a chance to be crowned "Man of Movember" inside the Caprice, while citizens - not in the know, including yours truly, milled about outside.

If you are still searching for that illusive stocking stuffer for the man in your life, you can bet your rainboots he would appreciate a moustache comb. Just something for you to think about while you are on Granville street eating your pizza.

Bugs Bunny Billy, Joey Joe, and Junior take in Granville Street just before rocking out at the Caprice Movember Event.

Trees are gone but will be back!

I've got good news, and bad news..

Bad news is the City of Vancouver has cut down the trees on Granville Street at around 4 feet high. (so you drunken foolios don't go tripping on the stumps)

Today, good news comes in threes.

1.) The trees are a part of work to prepare the street for a facelift. The plan is to reconstruct the entire downtown portion of Granville Street with it's fixtures: this includes the road, sidewalks and light posts. In about a year, we'll have a beautiful new Granville Street with basalt inlaid concrete, new benches, garbage receptacles, lights, banners, flower baskets... the whole nine yards.

2.) New trees will be replanted in their place. This is an important part of the plan. The new trees will require less maintenence and will not lift the sidewalk & buildings the way the old trees did. So far, the old beech trees on the 500 block are planned to remain untouched. The only downside is, while the trees acclimatize to their new home they are particularly vulnerable to vandalism. If you are out there when the new trees freshly planted, keep an eye out for them!

3.) In this preparation, they've also temporarily taken out the parking meters on the 1100 block. There is no plan to advertise this development so this is your little known secret. Use it wisely. I haven't heard word of when they are replacing the meters but I'd bet good money it won't be until the new street is in place. Free parking! Woot!
