New Bread Garden Cafe Opens Up

Like I told you, a new Bread Garden Urban Cafe is popping up at 742 Granville with it's Grand Opening this Friday (tomorrow).

Took a sneak peak earlier this week and enjoyed it's brightness, comfortable booths and seats, gorgeous detailing found only in old craftsman buildings. Wifi was strong. As far as coffee shops go, it's going to be a great place to catch up for friends, work on your lap top, or wind down with a lattee. LCD screens are discretely mounted so you can keep abrest of the Canucks, without the electronics distracting from it's elegant charm.

I'm planning on grabbing the window booth and watching the world go by.... Granville has the best mix of interesting faces and this seat will be one of the best on the street for people watching.

This promotion will appear on the back page of 24 hours on Monday December 21 so grab a copy of 24 hours and mosey on down there for your free cinnamon knot with purchase of hot bevy.

Doolin's Irish Pub's Tree Trimming Food Drive Week

The festive season is upon us once again. We’d like to take a moment to thank all of our friends and customers for helping us achieve our successes and helping us make a positive contribution to the local community.

One of these initiatives is our annual Tree Trimming Food Drive every holiday season to support the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. This year, we have two very exciting components to share and invite you all to participate.

From November 29 through to December 6, for every ornament brought in to decorate our tree, Doolin's will make a $2 cash donation to the Food Bank.

Alternatively, when you come into Doolin’s, you may purchase a specially-designed paper ornament for $2, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank. In addition to this, we’ll waive your weekend cover charge on December 4 & 5 when you bring a donation of non-perishable items. We thank you for your generosity and would be delighted to have you join us.

Continuation... More about the Bay Olympic Superstore party

One last bit about merchandise... The pins are reported to be the biggest thing during any Games. Pin freaks from around the world gather to swap old and new pins.

Love the little maple syrups.. The way they sell it, I'm totally buying.. I dunno if its the Hello Kitty freak in me but I'm totally digging the mascots. Slap them on a bottle of ketchup and it would become my personal official condiment for 2010.. fo sho.

OK! Here's the Entertainment...

Signings by Olympians. All day...

Music by the Cowboy Junkies.. And more... Pardon my shaky hands. She has an amazing voice doesn't she? Even better in person.. trust me.

Inside the Olympic Superstore...

So I arrived at 12:05 and all the toques were gone... QQ. Little Kenny here, however had more luck and was willing to model it for me. Isn't he cute?

.

Swatch has a kiosk inside the super store... I saw over a dozen varieties but noticed the Quatchi/Miga watch.

You can buy your very own miniaturized replica of the olympic torch (a Birks Creation, their store just down the street on Hastings) for only $295. Birks is also the official Jeweler and has designed a variety of pieces to commemorate the event such as cufflinks, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, charms

Will make a post on the festitivites in a few minutes...
