Payless Shoes is finally open!

Shoes for less. Payless has opened at it's new location - 804 Granville Street, where the old Burger King used to be. What an amazing transformation! The store is absolutely clean and bright. Upstairs shoes for size 8 and up are in neat rows under a skylight. Tons of natural light, making it a really enjoyable shopping experience. Check the cute pumps below... and the 40% off select sales poster. Ask in-store for details but allow these two images to inspire you to run, not walk to Payless.

Adrenaline Tattoos - 982 Granville Street.

Not on my usual travels, I decided to pop into Adrenaline and was pleasantly surprised.

Sale on select clothing in the store. Mainly women's T-shirts and hoodies, and Unisex Rainboots. See store for specifics.

Readers, pardon my shaky hands. Saw some carved wooden earrings for $25-35 a pair. A strange mix of Contempo-Funk in high quality materials and workmanship. Well worth the ticketed price.

Quirky vintage style hotel keychains complete with room numbers and logos from the "Pair-A-Dice" motor court and the "Naughty Pine Hotel" (other offerings as well).

Saved the best for last... Mimibot 1g Flash Drives. Mostly of Kidrobot-esque monsters and animals, but also really funny Hans Solo, Ewok and Princess Leia (a la white bikini with cinnimon bun hair) figures as well. $44.99 Would be a hilarious present for the technophile in your life (or me!) haha.

Boo! Are you ready for Halloween?

Still dont' have your costume for Halloween? There's always the back up of a bedsheet Toga in subzero weather.

Doesn't appeal? Lucky for you there are some great finds at Cherry Bomb (841 Granville St.) at their Vintage Costume Sale. They have costumes and props from the CBC wardrobe auction, popular movie and television productions, local theatre and dinner theatre, vintage mascot costumes and authentic military uniforms.

Used Clothing Store at 831 Granville Street also has a respectable Halloween Costume arsenal. Don't miss the shop as there is a manniquin dressed like a silver sequined flapper which leads to a stairway upstairs.

There's also an extensive selection of Halloween costumes at Camouflage (888 Granville St.). Military Regalia and more. Saw a police inspired number in the window, but more costumes were in the showroom upstairs.

Of course, for the ladies, there are some flavourful options if you have the desire to join the throngs of sexy nurses, french maids, or vinyl clad vixens...

With quality options like these, you won't be stuck looking like you've bought it from Superstore beside Kim the 3rd grader. Thank me later. Trick or Treat!

A little treat because its awesome.. On a side note. Does anyone have any awesome memories to share about this song? Years back, when I was auditioning for the first Canadian Idol  (I obviously bombed else I would have the recording deal instead of Ryan Malcolm. haha!) we had a room of 500 reasonably in tune gals and boys singing this song. It was really beautiful. It almost erases the memories of slow dancing to this song in rock hard teased bangs and acid washed jeans. Oh HYPERCOLOR. Do you remember me?

With producer and close friend GrandMarnier, Yelle has recorded a debut album Pop-Up, after her hit single "Je Veux Te Voir" (a finalized version of "Short Dick Cuizi"). Deuces are wild!

Stumbled across Granville's latest secret at 980 Granville last night. Appeared to be very "unofficial" soft opening but if the decor and food was any indication, our new secret was going to be a big big hit with the well heeled.

For some ridiculous reason, I didn't have my "blog" hat on. Long day I guess, so pardon the vagueness of this post.

DECOR: Chandliers, intimate lighting, Leather booths along the walls, and surprisingly comfortable chair/stools on the other side of the table. I don't know about you, but I've never been one to enjoy sitting on a stool, but these ones were ok. Beautiful wall treatment.

The introductory menu had a modest amount of items, but was surprisingly difficult to make a choice. Plenty of delicious things to choose from at reasonable prices. Darcy, the managing partner who welcomed us to the restaurant, explained the concept of the restaurant and that the menu would likely be expanded in the near future. Beginning with the food, each menu item was painstakingly created by a chef of the 4 star resort, Hilton Whistler Resort and Spa (I think... sorry!). Each item, from it's description would be flavorful, no doubt.

We ended up sharing the Deuce Bungalow house salsa and hand made chips while we waited for our respective meals, mine the Baby Back Ribs in a Mango Pomegranate sauce, and J's a Chorizo and Beef Flank stew. J and I, we're big into dips. She makes this AMAZING humous  that I can't get enough of. I call it legendary... its spoiled me to the point where I can't eat humous anywhere else...  So we weren't expecting much, especially from a salsa. Anyways, we were just BLOWN away by the salsa. I know what you are thinking. Cmon. It's salsa. No people! This isn't just salsa. The very freshest of ingredients, the tomatoes were unbelievable sweet, a myriad of flavors. Just enough heat.

Get. The. Salsa.

Our meals arrived beautifully garnished and delicious. It was obvious that the food was carefully prepared with very fresh ingredients. J and I agreed we'd come back with the toughest critics, the BFs. Confident it'd  pass the test.

There is such a thing as a FREE BAG!

Funniest thing...

Last night, downtown was just buzzin'. Beautiful night... hints of winter giving sharpness to the air. Tons of people walking around the street likely attending shows at the Film Festival or one of the events at the Live venues. The vibe was quintessentially Granville.

I had a bunch of reusable shopping bags a la ShopGranville to give away so I offered them to people hanging on the drag Evidently, I have suspicious look about me. Ha! Reactions varied from glee or suspicion (ok I'll give you this one, some casually dressed woman approaches you offering to give you something for free... what's wrong with it right?), to anger and disbelief. Yes people, there is such a thing as a free bag and I hope you enjoy it!

Funny quotes:
"Hey you... bag lady.. come back!"
"I-have-plenty-of-bags-at-home-oh-ok-sure-then." <----Obviously an internal struggle between Minimalism and a desire to possess the sweetness that is the ShopGranville Bag.
"No thank you, I'm walking around Granville." (huh?)
"Can I have 6 for my friend." <-- I said sure. I appreciate people who think of their friends. I'm an optimist.

Will likely be walking down Granville at around 11am today so if you want a bag, track me down! Free, with no strings attached.

I love the ShopGranville bags because they look so great and are fantastic for carrying things (lots of space, and its very sturdy). Reuse it and spread the word about our blog, and help the environment. Share the love.

Cheers!
