Dee Daniels is a crowd pleaser and a musician’s musician. Whether accompanying her self at the piano, fronting a trio, big band or symphony, Dee Daniels' musical career is as varied as her four-octave vocal range is thrilling. She is a unique talent who brings her gospel background, blues flavouring, and jazz styling to the stage — transcending the borders of musical genres.
Dee has performed in eleven African countries covering the north, south, east and west, Australia, Colombia, United Kingdom, Colombia, Hong Kong, Japan, many countries within Europe, as well as performances throughout North America. Two of her personal highlights are having had the opportunity of singing the Blues with the divine ’Queen of Jazz’, Sarah Vaughan in The Netherlands, and singing Gospel and Blues with the ’King of Jazz’, Joe Williams in Germany. She is a jazz vocalist in demand by the classical music world, performing her Great Ladies of Swing and The Soul of Ray: The Music of Ray Charles POPS programs with symphony orchestras across Canada and the USA including the Detroit, Dallas, Peter Nero’s Philly Pops, Baltimore, Vancouver, Naples, Toronto, Calgary, San Antonio, Greensboro, and Portland orchestras to name but a few.
A respected vocal clinician and mentor, Dee presents clinics, workshops, and master classes around the world. In 2001, she established the Dee Daniels Jazz Vocal Scholarship at the Capilano College in North Vancouver, BC. She has served on the Advisory Board of the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival since 2002, and has received several awards for her contribution in the field of music education.
Dee is the proud 2003 recipient of the prestigious “Commemorative Medal for the Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II”, an inductee into the University of Montana’s School of Fine Arts “Hall of Honor”; 2002 inductee into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame with a plaque was installed on Vancouver's Granville Street Walk of Fame; 2001 recipient of the FANS Award (a North Vancouver, BC Arts Council presentation); and the University of Montana’s 1997 Distinguished Alumni. In 2008, she was a recipient of Capilano University’s Presidents Service Award. Her JAZZINIT CD was in the Top Ten CDs of 2007 on several polls. She has several other CDs as a leader, guest artist, and on compilation.

A little tid bit for your ears from a past festival. Hear her sing "You are my sunshine". You've never heard it sung this way before.
